Frequently Asked Questions
-
How does Animal Communication work?
Deborah will ask for a photo or video of your animal and can connect from anywhere in the world. This all happens telepathically, via the energy waves. The photo does not have to be recent, and the animal does not have to be living, or with you. Every animal is different and some will share a lot, and some are more quiet. Everything they communicate is always with the hope it will bring you understanding.

Are you a psychic?
As an animal communicator, I am telepathic, sensing or intuiting energies that might appear as pictures, sounds or words. These messages can also be symbolic, like riddles we need to interpret. Unlike a psychic, who provides an impression of the future and advises on actions, I focus on the present and, if the animal chooses to share, we see events from the past affecting their current situation.

How do I make an appointment?
Click "Book a Reading" or visit the Services page. All readings require a booking, and receive a free Zoom, WhatsApp or Mobile call. Weekends and Evenings also available.
All you need is a photo of your animal when you book (attach from your device). Have your questions ready, and it is also optional to ask more questions after the reading.

Why choose Animal Whispers NZ?
Deborah has been connecting with animals since 2003, when she began with Flower Essences, utilising her intuitive skills to identify the best solutions for animals to overcome challenges. Since then, she has been working with Equine Acupuncture and Homoeopathy, and trained in Animal Communication, receiving wonderful feedback from clients along the way. In 2024, Deborah decided to offer animal communication on its own, as a way for animals and their carers to connect, share messages, and understand each other. Born in New Zealand, Deborah's ancestory goes back to Romany Gypsy and Scotland, so it is no surprise to learn of her love for horses, the wonders of the spirit world, and her natural talent for intuitive guidance.

Will my pet notice anything is happening?
Mostly not, but sometimes they will be a bit quieter. They already know you have booked a session, so they’ll be happy that you are listening :-)
A reading can happen at any time, and your animal can be busy doing something else, even with a Zoom call. I always try communicating with them over a few different days/times to see what works best for them. I will ask what they want to tell you first before asking your questions. Sometimes their message may not obvious what they mean at first, and then later on, you may remember something that is what the animal was referring to. Its really interesting and insightful!

Can you help find lost animals?
This can be a difficult process. I can help with recommendations of what to do and give answers to some questions. This is only available on email reading, and I cannot guarantee finding a location or specific information that pinpoints their location.
You may want to visit a psychic, Joycelle’s website, and try her free question - I found it actually quite accurate!
Please also read my Blog Post, and Jenna’s story of finding her cat, and what she experienced. We hope this helps.
-
What type of photo do you need?
The photo should show as much of the animal as you can. They could be sitting, or laying down, it doesn’t matter. If I can see their eyes that would be ideal. It can be taken at any time, it could be in the last few weeks, months, or years, it is okay to choose any one.
Can there be anyone else in the photo?
No, there needs to be no other animals or any people in the photo. If there are, please crop the photo before you attach it.
-
Can pet psychics help solve behavioral problems in pets?
An animal communicator cannot make your animal change as they have no direct control over them. What they can do is ask the animal to show them what is happening in their environment, either now or in the past, that has led to them feeling insecure, or afraid, or to act in the way you are describing. Once you, the owner, can share how you can help them with that, the animal will hear you, and if you are genuinely interested in trying to improve their lives, will often make a change, or compromise. They may also show you something small that you can do to change your behaviour, or the environment, to help them overcome this challenge.
-
What typically happens in an animal communication session?
You will be asked for basic details about your animal such as name, and to provide a photo, and describe the questions you have about their well-being, or describe the situation you need help with.
Deborah will tune in to your animal, often using a photo or working live over phone or Zoom, and relay what they perceive your animal is thinking or feeling. You can ask more specific questions, and Deborah will share what she sees or hears, and we work together to understand the animal’s perspective. Sometimes the references your animal shows may not become clear until you think about it later.
-
How do I get the most out of a communication session?
Come with a short list of clear questions and be open to hearing unexpected things, rather than trying to “test” the communicator.
You can keep notes during the session if you wish, as sometimes you will have an ‘ah ha’ moment and it is good to reflect on that later, and decide calmly what feels accurate or helpful for you and your animal.
Deborah will send you a brief email afterwards (for check-ins) or a full email reading for other bookings.
Keep those photos that make you smile, and remember your animals for the love they brought you, knowing they are safe in a new life.
